SMP were incredibly proud of our Welwyn Drama Festival 2022 plays last year. We entered three different short plays; One Available Vacancy, Night Walking and Holiday Lets. All plays received incredible feedback from the adjudicator and the SMP trophy cabinet was well and truly rammed after the awards ceremony. Our two hander, One Available Vacancy won Second Place (the Roy Brewer Cup), Carla Segel, playing Sue, won the Winifred Butler Award for Best Actress and John Stivey, playing Hunt, won the Welwyn Award for Best Actor.
Night Walking Director James Clarke won the Behrens Steinfeld Trophy for the Director with the Most Complete and Imaginative Approach and SMP Theatre were awarded the Charles Pilgrim Trophy for Stage Presentation and the play came in First Place! Which meant that Night Walking hit the road to Coventry to perform in the National Drama Festival against plays from all over the country!
We’re wishing everyone taking part this year the best of luck!
